How do I know you really exist, what's your history?
Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality products,
at competitive prices. We strive for excellence in service, selection & value
and recognize our responsibility to our customers. Our customer's goodwill and

House Of Tools was founded in 1962. Our first retail store was in Calgary,
Alberta. From modest beginnings, House Of Tools has expanded to become a full-line
industrial distributor, and is the largest independent tool house in Canada.
We now have thirteen branches throughout western Canada as well as a Mail Order
Division and an E-commerce site. Although we have always serviced industry and
contractors, we have branched out over the years to provide tools and machinery
to do-it-yourselfers, maintenance and repair organizations, governments, schools
and institutions, as well as the military. All types of people and trades count
on us to provide the tools they need at the best prices. Including: plumbers,
electricians, builders, carpenters, remodelers, cabinetmakers, welders, maintenance
personnel and serious do-it-yourselfers. We now carry a broad product line of
more than 25,000 part numbers from over 400 different manufacturers and growing.
So, when we receive on-line orders from St. John's, NFLD; Osaka, Japan; Barcelona,
Spain; Birmingham, England or from Point Barrow, Alaska, our staff members are
ready with years of experience helping people find the right tool for the job

- What happened to the Canwood brand of Machinery & Accessories?
Warrantees for the Canwood machinery are unaffected and parts will still be available. We no longer bring in our own house brand of products, but still purchase many of the same machinery and tools under the names of Pioneer and Force From Pioneer Supply International Inc. Great quality, value and features, just from a new company.
- What is House Of Tools Guarantee?If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied, simply return your purchase within 30 days for an immediate refund, replacement or credit. Simply pack up the item and mail or ship it back to us. Please note that all merchanidise must be returned prepaid and in the original box and condition. Please include a short note outlining the reason for the return and a copy of your invoice, so we can promptly process your return. We will credit you, the same way as you paid us (i.e. credit card or cheque). You are responsible for the freight charges both to you and back to us. All freight charges are credited if the error was ours.
This guarantee excludes machinery and power tools as theses are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. For more specific warranty information

- What is House Of Tools Price Guarantee?We shop the competition so you don't have to.
If you find an advertised price on the Internet, on an identical brand name product that is lower than our price, we will gladly match it at time of purchase or within 30 days of purchase. The advertised item must be new and subject to a manufacturer's warranty applicable in Canada. Advertised prices will be calculated as including all charges applicable for delivery to your home address, including sales taxes. Price Guarantee does not apply to restricted quantity or time limited offers, special financing offers, special educational prices, special bundles, free offers, misprints, mail-order offers, rebates, coupons, OEM products, private brands, liquidations, bankruptcies, receiverships, close outs or items sold below our cost. If our own price drops within 30 days of your purchase, we will also refund the difference to you.
* The site must be a Canadian ecommerce site where you can buy from it directly. Sites that only post price lists do not qualify.
Simply present us with your original House Of Tools receipt and the proof of a lower advertised price. Once our staff has been able to verify that the item is in stock and available for immediate sale and delivery at the advertised price, you will receive your refund or price match on the spot.
- What is the quality of machinery made in China?
There is a wide range of machinery made in China. There is good, bad and
awful. While many machines may look alike, some offer better quality than
others do. With over 100 different manufacturers in China, you need a distributor
who knows how to pick the right ones. House Of Tools has over 40 years of
experience importing wood and metalworking machinery. We either co-design
or spec our machines with our manufacturers to ensure the quality always meets
our high standards. We constantly travel to the factories to ensure that our
standards are being met.
- Are all the tools in your store displayed over
the web? No. We are adding items to our website every day, but it will
take sometime before everything is on line. Just to give you an idea, our stores
have over 25,000 items. So far the web site has approximately 7000 and is
growing. If you don't see an item you're trying to find contact us, chances
are we have it, can get it, or we might know where you can get it.
- How do I get more information on an item on the
site? Contact us. We can help find what you need to know. If we don't
have the information to send you we'll contact our suppliers and get it. From
faxing pages from our suppliers catalog to putting you in contact with their
customer service if the information is out of our expertise we'll help you
get the information you need.
- How often do your prices change? Prices can
change daily, either upwards or downwards. This happens for a variety of reasons;
manufacturer's price increases, shipping cost increases, currency fluctuations,
special purchase discounts, sales, discontinued products, etc. Please Note;
Price errors are rare, but do happen occasionally due to entering errors or
computer uploads. We cannot be held responsible for these discrepancies and
do try and correct them as quickly as possible. Also, some items may have limited quantities
or limited stock on hand.
- Do you have Gift Certificates? Yes! Gift Certificates
are available in any amount. Call us at 1-800-661-3987 or e-mail us and we'll
send out a gift certificate, catalog and gift card to anyone you specify.
Sorry but On-line Gift Certificates are not yet available.

- How long is warranty on tools? The warranty
of any tool depends on the manufacturer. They can range from ninety days to
limited lifetime. Most hand tools are lifetime and power tools & machinery
will have a minimum of one years.
Please Note: Powertools and machinery shipped outside of Canada are covered by the manufacturers warranty. Their conditions apply. All Canwood and Force Machinery shipped outside of Canada will be covered by a parts only warranty, excluding labour.

- Bids, Contracts and Insurance Loss Claims?
We have an Industrial division to our company and would welcome the opportunity
to bid on any products we sell. If you e-mail or fax us the specs, we will
promptly return the bid. Within the Industrial Division we have staff specialized
in Insurance Loss replacement. They will work with you and your insurance
company to get you back to work.
Ordering and Backorders

- How can I pay for my order? The House Of Tools offers several ways to pay
for your shopping over the Internet. We want our customers to have a comfortable
feeling when they pay for goods using this new medium. Make your choice from
the payment methods below. Our Checkout pages are Verisign Secured, to ensure your information is protected to the fullest.
- Do you charge sales tax? If your order is shipped to
an international address out side of Canada, we do not charge sales tax.
If you are ordering from Canada, and shipping to a Canadian address, we
will ship your order from our Canadian warehouse and will charge only
the Goods and Service Tax, or the Harmonized Sales Tax. Only those Provincial
sale taxes, which we are required to charge by law, will be assessed.
- I have a gift certificate or a coupon from your catalog or store.
How can I use it on-line? Towards the end of the ordering process you'll
be presented with a window where you can add comments to your order. Mention
the coupon offer there along with any coupon number. If we have any questions
we'll e-mail you before processing the order.
- If something isn't in stock, how does it work? If we are
temporarily out of stock on an item you have ordered, it will be back
ordered on our computer system until the item becomes available or you
tell us to cancel it. Your credit card will not be charged until the item
comes in. Some items may have limited quantities available. If you order an item,
which is no longer avaialable your order will be held and you will be contacted. If an item
is no longer activly stocked and must be special ordered possibly at a higher price, you
will be contacted and given the option of continuing the order or cancelling.
- How long will my backorders take? There is no set time
period on back orders, but we try to keep the wait as short as possible.
We try to fill orders from stock at our other locations, but there are
times when we are waiting for shipments from our suppliers. Items coming
from within Canada or the US are usually filled within 30 days. Items
from Overseas can take as long as eight to twelve weeks due to shipping
schedules.
- If my order is late or lost what do I do? Contact us.
We insure all our shipments for just this possibility. Every parcel is
assigned a traceable number, which we call in to the Canada Post computer.
If the parcel is considered lost we can replace it. We make sure you get
the items you've paid for.
- What if my order arrives damaged? If the parcel is damaged
on the outside and your concerned about missing or damaged items, do not
sign for it and then call us immediately. If the parcel was fine on the
outside, but when you opened it something was damaged or missing, contact
us. Our insurance covers damage as well as loss. We make sure you get
the items you've paid for. Note: Truck shipments are handled differently;
please see the Truck Shipping section.
Returns
- If I want to return an item, how long do
I have? The House of Tools has its satisfaction guarantee. If for
any reason you are not 100% satisfied, simply return your purchase within
thirty days for an immediate refund or replacement as you request. Please
include a short note outlining the reason for the return so we may better
serve you in the future. This guarantee excludes machinery and power tools
as these are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. All merchandise must
be returned pre-paid in the original box and condition, along with a copy
of your invoice.
- What items cannot be returned? Special
order items such as personalized branding irons cannot be returned unless
the error is ours. Videos cannot be returned unless they are faulty or unopened.
Unused tools in original packaging may be returned for full credit of the
price of the tool (shipping is not refundable unless it was our error).
- How do I return something? Make a
copy of the invoice to send along with your returned items. Send your return
to us via insured mail to the address below. International customers please
contact your local customs office for return of any duties and taxes that
you may have paid. If you return a gift you received, please tell us the name
and address of the person who gave it to you. (Providing this information
will allow us to keep your return confidential.) Let us know how to handle
your return: to reorder an item as a replacement; or to have your money refunded
in the form of a refund cheque, a credit to your credit card, or as a Gift
Certificate in the amount of the credit due. Note: Gift Certificates are redeemable
by phone, fax or for payment when ordering products directly from our on-line

Shipping
- Will I be notified when my shipment is sent?
We send an acknowledgment notice when we receive your order, and then again
when the order is processed and shipped. If there is a problem with the order
we contact you right away.
- How soon will my order be shipped?
If you place your order Monday through Thursday before 1:00 PM MST, orders are processed within 48 hours. If your
order is placed Friday, Saturday or Sunday, your order will be processed on within 48 hours of the following Monday.
Within the continental United States and Canada, please allow 4 - 14 days for delivery. (We ship orders to Alaska and
Hawaii via Airmail. If an item is backordered or a special order product, it will be shipped as soon
as it becomes available via regular post. The recipient pays taxes and applicable
duty charges.
- How do you ship Canadian orders? Orders
within Canada are shipped from our Canadian warehouse and are billed in Canadian
dollars. Unless requested we ship by Canada Post Expedited Parcel Service,
but we can ship by most couriers at an extra cost. We usually fill your order within 24 hours
after receiving your order. Then we deliver anywhere in Canada just 4-14 business
days later. All our pricing and shipping charges are in Canadian funds.
- How do you determine the Shipping & Handling
charge on an order? Our Shipping & Handling rates are either based
on the merchandise value of your order or the weight of a product.
For Canadian orders
$0.00 to $20.00 - $7.95
$20.00 to $50.00 - $8.95
$50.01 to $74.99 - $9.95
$75.00 to $99.99 - $10.95
$100.00 to $199.99 - $12.95
$200.00 and up - $14.95
(Please see below for orders outside of Canada.) This fee covers
all regular postage charges for your order regardless of how many packages
it's shipped in. However, this does not cover those orders due to their
bulk or weight, which require a different shipping charge. This charge will
replace the above rates. All orders shipped are fully insured by House Of Tools
against loss or damage. If a problem does occur, please contact us immediately.
Charges are for first "Ship to" address. Please note that Value of Order includes
the total price of the items plus any service charges such as additional freight
charges for orders over 22lb. (10kg), or oversized items. Shipping charges are subject
to change. Orders to remote locations are not covered by our standard shipping rates. In these cases, the shipping charge will be determined by the weight, distance and destination. Because of limited access and freight costs to the Yukon, Northwest and Nunavut Territories, Newfoundland & Labrador and other remote locations there may be extra shipping charges. Customers will be notified of these extra charges before their orders are processed, for confirmation and acceptance.
- Do you ship to countries outside of Canada? Yes, we have shipped to over 40 countries in the world. All shipping charges outside of Canada and including the U.S. are based on the method of shipment, weight and distance.
We will notify you in advance by e-mail of the shipping charges. We try and ship all orders complete, but if there are any backordered items, they will
be shipped at no additional cost, using Surface Parcel Post. Please remember,
there may be duties and taxes imposed on your order that aren't reflected
in our prices. Check with your local Customs Office for those charges. Most
of our customers think they're a small price to pay for the quality of the
merchandise received. All international orders and shipping charges are in
US funds. The recipient pays taxes and applicable duty charges.
- What are some of the other countries you
have shipped to? Algeria, Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Czech
Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Maldives, New Guinea,
New Zealand, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United
States.
- How much are truck shipments? Shipments to a
US location are calculated by weight and distance. We will calculate the the charges and contact you with a rate. The
Canadian and US destination charts are for information purposes only. They are intended
to give a close approximation of freight costs to the centers listed. Your freight cost would be calculated by the exact weight of the order transported to your location. For a specific rate to your location please contact us.

General Warranty Information
General Warranty Information
The houseoftools.com, House Of Tools Company and its affiliates are resellers of third-party manufactured products. The products sold are covered by manufacturers warranties. The exceptions are Canwood Economy, Canwood Pro, Canwood Industrial, Strike and Mechanics Forge products. These lines of products will no longer be carried by House of Tools, but the warranties will be valid for their full and normal duration.
Please Note: Powertools and machinery shipped outside of Canada are covered by the manufacturers warranty. Their conditions apply.
Please Note: In order to obtain warranty, any alleged defective tool or machine must be returned prepaid, along with a copy of original invoice as proof of purchase. Repairs made without our written authorization voids all guarantees. This warranty does not include repair or replacement required, because of misuse, abuse and/or normal wear and tear (i.e. belts, brushes, blades etc.). Labour not included.
This warranty is made expressly in place of all other guarantees or warranties, expressed or implied with respect to quality, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We shall in no event be liable for injuries, accidental or otherwise, death to persons, or damage to property, or for incidental contingent, special or consequential damages arising from the use of products.
Power tools and machinery shipped outside of Canada are covered by the manufacturers warranty. Their conditions apply.

Pioneer and Force International Hand Tools Warranty
All Pioneer and Force International, hand tools are covered by a Lifetime Warranty, unless otherwise stated. Pioneer Supply International agrees to repair or replace any hand tool, which upon examination proves to be defective in workmanship or material.
Air Tools
Pioneer & Force International Air Tool Warranty
Pioneer and Force International warranties its economy air tools to be free of defects in material and workmanship to the original purchaser for a period of one year from the date of purchase, for consumer use only. Unless otherwise stated. House Of Tools agrees to repair or replace a tool at our discretion, which upon examination proves to be defective in workmanship or material. Pioneer Economy & Force International Economy air tools are not guaranteed for commercial or industrial use.
Pioneer Air Tool Warranty
Pioneer Air Tools warranties its nailers and staplers for a period of 30 months for consumer use and 12 months for commercial/industrial use, from time of purchase, unless otherwise stated. House Of Tools agrees to repair or replace at its discretion a tool, which upon examination proves to be defective in workmanship or material.
Machinery
Pioneer Economy Series Warranty
Unless otherwise stated, Pioneer Economy warranties its machines to be free of defects in material and workmanship to the original purchaser for a period of one year from the date of purchase. House Of Tools agrees to repair or replace any original parts of a Pioneer Economy machine, which upon examination proves to be defective in workmanship or material. CPioneer Economy machines are not guaranteed for commercial or industrial use. Labour not included.
Pioneer Industrial Series Warranty
Unless otherwise stated, Pioneer Industrial, warranties its machines, to be free of defects in material and workmanship to the original purchaser for a period of two years from the date of purchase. House Of Tools agrees to repair or replace any original part or parts of a Pioneer Industrial series woodworking tool, which upon examination proves to be defective in workmanship or material. This warranty does not include repair labor.
Force International Machinery Warranty
Unless otherwise stated, Force International warranties its machinery to be free of defects in material and workmanship to the original purchaser for a period of one year from the date of purchase. House Of Tools agrees to repair or replace any original part or parts of a, which upon examination proves to be defective in workmanship or material. This warranty does not include repair labor.
